I was 18 years old when I enlisted into the U.S. Army and I wanted to do something meaningful in my life. I felt it was something I should do, to serve my country and to make my family proud. And I was right! I ignored all those negative people who had tried to deter me from pursuing my dream which was to become a soldier.
After I graduated AIT at Fort Lee, Virginia, I was sent home to Texas, and landed at DFW airport, everyone around me was excited to greet me. Life in the military has been a wonderful experience for me because I have been able to travel to different places in the states.
